Presidents Day, celebrated every third Monday in February, didn’t become a federal holiday until 1879. Previously, Presidents day celebrates the memory of George Washington’s birthday, which lands on February 22.
Later, Presidents Day also recognizes the birthday of Abraham Lincoln, thanks to the Uniform Monday Holiday Act. Lincoln’s birthday is February 12. Washington and Lincoln accomplished many things that help shape what the country is today.
Presidents Day honors these two great men respectively, but don’t forget to honor the others. In memory of Washington and Lincoln, wish them and sing Happy Birthday. You wouldn’t have a day off or fantastic sales without them!
