Wikipedia adds ‘Voice Archives’

The uniqueness in people’s voices are often overlooked. Hearing a person’s voice may sound different to someone else, but by being recorded can allow documentation.

What the popular Online Encyclopedia ‘Wikipedia‘ is now doing is archiving celebrity voices.

It might sound a little strange at first, but the voice of someone has never been collected as data before. With an also futuristic sound to it, Wikipedia is determined to offer it up over video recording.

There’s nothing wrong with video. We use video on Wikipedia as well but by using audio, it’s a very small task of the person recording their voice for us. They can do it in the morning when they are in their dressing gown and curlers. Some people are shy of appearing in front of a camera, but it’s also a small file to transmit over the Internet. It’s a lot cheaper to download the audio over the video.

Having a range of voices on Wikipedia can be helpful when the younger generation seems like with so much data.
