What do you do when the weather outside is unbearable?

Two words. Ice cream!

Outdoors during the blazing heat is like stepping into an oven. It’s hot, bright, and it feels like you are able to cook on concrete. There are barely anyone out in the open (animals included). This is because they are trying to find ways to stay refreshed. Some goes out for a swim in the pool or ocean, some goes out for cold drink and refreshments, and the smart some goes for.. you know it.. ice cream!

Here in Los Angeles, there are many places that become landmarks, including ice creameries.

Ice cream has been around since the stone age and i’m sure to say that no one wants them ever gone. It started selling in stores in the 1930’s and 70 plus years after, many has closed down but some has stayed. But which top old-school ice cream places are still open?

  1. Baskin-Robbins – was previously called Burton’s in 1945
  2. Bennett’s Ice Cream – been around since 1946
  3. Fosselman’s – family-ran tradition only in Alhambra
  4. Gill’s Old-Fashioned Ice Cream – tenants at the Original Farmers Market
  5. Thrifty Drug – now called Rite-Aid, opened by the Borun brothers  in 1929.

And if you can’t beat the heat and it’s too hot outside, you can always get your air conditioning repaired and spend the day indoors! Here at California Air, we can provide that service. Along with installations, replacements, and preventive maintenance. Visit our website for more information.
