What Can I Do to keep My HVAC & Furnaces from starting fires!?

Lately there has been many cases of HVAC and Furnaces catching fire as some people are looking for some warm relief to the freezing temperatures.how-to-clean-a-furnace-1Although it is something that may not cross our minds, it is something that can very well happen…but is also preventable! The key to stopping something this scary from happening in your own home is to do preventative maintenance on your heater or HVAC unit.

When it comes to maintaining a safe HVAC & Furnace system, getting yearly check-ups is key. When calling a technician, they will be able to see what parts are needed to be changed in order for the unit to run perfectly. When avoiding faulty parts, this can prevent from the unit overworking itself and being stressed to the point of causing a fire.

Home owners also are advised to do self-maintenance, removing clutter around the unit is a key thing! This is very important because when the unit is turned on, the clutter around it will get warm as well and may catch on fire. Dust or cob webs that may form around or in the unit are also advised to be removed. This can easily be done by taking a feather duster to the unit or a damp cloth.
